Effective Date: July 2024
Your Squarecomm service is provided by Squarecomm, LLC, including its affiliates, assigns, and agents (“Squarecomm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Disclosure explains important differences between traditional wired telephone 911 services and the 911 access capabilities provided through Squarecomm’s Wi-Fi calling service (“Wi-Fi 911 Service”). It is essential that you read this notice carefully and understand these differences, which may affect your access to emergency services.
If you have any questions, please contact Squarecomm Customer Support at +1 (206) 407-9760.
Important Limitations of Wi-Fi 911 Service
1. Power Outages
- The Wi-Fi 911 Service will not function during a power outage.
- If your Wi-Fi loses power, your ability to call 911 through Squarecomm will be disabled until power is restored.
- You may need to reset or reconfigure your equipment after power is restored.
- Recommended: Use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply), maintain a backup landline, and have a secondary internet connection if possible.
2. Internet Service Disruptions
- Service outages from your internet provider or from Squarecomm will interrupt 911 functionality.
- You may need to reset your equipment once service is restored to regain 911 capabilities.
3. Registered Address Requirement
- Your 911 calls are routed based on your Registered Address.
- If the address is incorrect or outdated, your call may be routed to the wrong emergency services, who may not be able to assist.
- To update your address, visit squarecomm.us or call Customer Support at +1 (206) 407-9760.
4. Device Relocation or Damage
- Moving your device to a different address without updating your Registered Address may result in misrouted 911 calls.
- Updates may take up to 2 hours to process.
- Always notify Squarecomm in advance if relocating your equipment.
5. Caller Identification Limitations
- Emergency services may not be able to identify your phone number or call you back if:
- Your call is dropped or disconnected.
- The PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) cannot receive number identification.
- Technical limitations prevent caller ID delivery.
6. Location Identification Limitations
- If you call 911 from a location other than your Registered Address, emergency personnel may not know your location.
- You must verbally provide your address when calling 911 from a non-registered location.
7. Network Congestion and Call Delays
- Due to technical differences from traditional 911 networks, your Wi-Fi 911 call may:
- Be delayed or dropped.
- Be routed to a general line rather than a dedicated 911 dispatcher.
- Receive a busy signal or delayed response during peak usage times.
Always Maintain Backup Emergency Access
Squarecomm’s Wi-Fi 911 Service is not a replacement for traditional emergency services. We do not offer primary line or lifeline services.
We strongly recommend that all users maintain alternative means of contacting emergency services, such as a landline or cellular service.
